Album Description:

Following the success of her 2021 LP ‘Spirit Practice,’ Milicent Coleman is serving up a collection of synth-driven tracks on ‘Snack Basket’ – her latest release under the Wing Vilma moniker. Released via Detroit label Young Heavy Souls, the EP is Coleman’s first and demonstrates her commitment to creative exploration. ‘Snack Basket’ – a sound collage-inspired, polyrhythmic IDM score fit for fans of Aphex Twin, Daisuke Tanabe, Teebs and Shigeto – reaches across the spectrum of frequencies in space and time to fold together elements of organic and synthesized sound, creating familiar yet highly original sound design with movement and intention.

“This EP is about breaking down the mental barriers to creativity that often come from the perfectionist tendencies. It's about settling into my life in the Pacific Northwest and feeling the rebirth within myself that came from beginning to medically transition, and feeling more in touch with the femininity that has always been a core part of my being but was previously going un-nurtured,” Wing Vilma reflects.

The composition and production of ‘Snack Basket’ is a testament to Coleman’s experimental achievement. Aiming to create intuitive, uninhibited music, the artist crafted the majority of the record with just a laptop and a borrowed OP-1. The result was an infectious and uplifting assemblage of rhythms and tonal textures, poured straight from Wing Vilma’s heart and mind and out into the world as quickly as possible.
